Thank you so much Erin, I am so sorry for your lose of your brother. Thank you so much for sharing. I was a drug addict for over 20 years but only by the grace of God I am free. I was addicted to oxy- herion suboxone and the end I was cooking meth please keep sharing. God bless

My son Brett Bayard 26 died of an accidental oxy overdose September 28, 2011. I am going to yet another funeral today. This will be the eighth death from this drug. They were all from the same graduating class of 2003. The class was only a little over 100. The statistics on overdosing from this drug is grosely underestimated. Your story about your brother is almost the exact same story I lived through. Over and over again the same story! How can I help to get this horrible drug off the market? This is not a safe drug. This drug is killing our youth!

I’m also writing a memoir about my journey with my son through his addiction, first to oxy and then to shooting heroin. I hope to help others who are going through this heartbreaking journey and want to see their loved ones find help and the strength to embrace recovery. One in five is a terrible statistic for recovery and I hope that, by advocating for healthcare reform and de-stigmatizing addiction, we can foster a culture that will realize the advantages of treating the disease rather than continuing to criminalize it.
